                                                                    Fishing Songs and Sea Shanties

Sea shanties and traditional fishing songs are a wonderful part of Scotland’s diverse and rich cultural heritage. As a maritime nation, sea shanties, traditional fishing songs and stories have remained a popular pastime for both sailors and landsmen alike!

These workshops will focus on building a repertoire of shanties as well as covering their historical value, different types of shanties for various jobs on ships, and harmony singing, and, of course, having fun!

They are also an opportunity for singers of all abilities to sing songs of the sea and coast.  Workshops are for adults, however children are also welcome.

Please also enquire if you wish to compose your own Shanty!

Please feel free to contact Captain Joss for bookings and any questions.

Testimonials

Hello

I really wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the workshop at the Story telling Centre, Edinburgh on Sunday 11th February 2024.

The workshop isn’t an event we have attended before and, I must say, it was such an enjoyable experience, we will certainly be keeping a look out for future events of Joss Cameron.

We’re not used to singing in public but Joss made us feel so comfortable, it was lovely.

Also to be involved in an event with such an age range of different people was great.

We look forward to attending future gigs and workshops and thank you for such a warm welcome.

Best wishes
Jackie and Mike Clark

Joss, we loved it!

Thank you so much for coming and sharing such perfect songs with us. It was a brilliant workshop and you were a generous host. I loved how the group ‘grew’ as the morning went on! This was everything a workshop should be.

Heave away, haul away!

Very best – Catherine.
